In 2015, the Supreme Court in Obergefell v. Hodges redefined marriage to include two women or two men. In doing so, they overturned thousands of years of human history and experience, and also struck down thirty state Constitutional Amendments defining marriage as only the union of one man and one woman.
This is judicial tyranny at its worst. There is nothing in the Constitution or history of our country to remotely suggest that the Supreme Court has the authority to redefine marriage. They did it anyway. One of the many problems with enacting such sweeping changes by judicial fiat is that there is no way to predict the unintended consequences. It was an act of supreme arrogance and self-righteousness.
Here is the truth which no politician has yet dared speak, but someone must. When our society began to normalize homosexuality and accept it as a “sexual orientation” rather than sin and perversion, we opened the floodgates to moral and spiritual anarchy.
I said back in the 1980’s while fighting the so called “Gay rights” bills in Massachusetts that normalizing homosexuality would affect marriage, family, and society in profoundly negative ways. The bill’s proponents denied it, and even the conservative opponents didn’t take seriously the long term consequences.
Here we are over forty years later and sexual “orientation” has expanded into sexual “identity.” These manufactured concepts have evolved to now justify injecting children with hormones, mutilating their bodies, and separating them from the parents who protect them.
There is no limit to the lengths the Left and their so called “LGBTQ” allies will go to impose their post-modern moral relativism on the rest of us. They will vilify, slander, and smear those who oppose their lies. A self-identified transgender turned to violence in an attack on innocent children at the Covenant Christian School in Nashville. We all hope that incident was an anamoly. However, it remains to be seen how mentally imbalanced people will react to society’s rejection of their absurd and delusional claims. This is why it was important that authorities release the writings of the Covenant School shooter for the public to consider the implications. By refusing to do so, they left us all to wonder whether gender confusion creates. not only suicidal, but homicidal impulses.
Over the last fifty years our society has changed from treating sexuality as a private matter to publicly celebrating what was once considered abnormal. The legacy media defends this trend and attacks those who oppose it. Nonetheless, this new “transgender” movement and the threat it poses to our children proves we should never have made the first concession of accepting “sexual orientation” as a protected class under the law.
It is time to reaffirm the truth – “homosexuality is sin; it is depraved and only opens the door to more depravity.”
Of course, we will be accused of being harsh, bigoted, and hateful for saying this. Is the Bible harsh, bigoted, and hateful? Romans 1:26-27 says:
“…God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.”
The Bible says homosexuality is “vile,” “against nature,” “shameful” and deserving of punishment (“penalty”) by Almighty God. That is not my opinion, but what the Bible says. Is that a lie?
When our legal and social institutions accept and normalize homosexuality, they call what the Bible teaches on the subject a lie. To put it bluntly, they call God a liar. By claiming a monopoly on truth and the sole right to define their behavior as moral and upright, they make themselves God and declare themselves righteous. Likewise, they declare those of us who hold to the biblical standard to be “bigots” and “haters” worthy of whatever punishment these self-appointed “gods” deem appropriate. They will destroy your business, have you fired from your job, and ruin your reputation, if not worse.
They have apparently never read Isaiah 5:20-21:
“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!”
No matter what they say about us, we must never compromise with darkness and evil. Such compromise has infected our culture with same-sex marriage, transgenderism, gender-fluidity, non-binary, polyamory, furries (a gateway to bestiality), and over 100 hundred counterfeit genders.
Complacency and compromise has also led to child grooming, child gender-abuse, and trampling the rights of parents. Pedophiles have already been given a new euphemism – “MAPS” – Minor Attracted Persons. This is where accepting homosexuality and same sex marriage has led us, and it will only get worse unless we put a stop to it.
This is why we are proposing a constitutional amendment to return our culture to truth. If we want to end this spiritual and moral degeneration in America, we must restore the foundations, which begins with invalidating the twin fictions that homosexuality is normal and homosexual marriage is valid. Neither is true.
There is no such thing as a “same-sex marriage.” It only exists as a delusion in the twisted minds of those who reject God’s standard of morality.
Bowing to sexual perversion out of respect for what others “feel” is creating an idolatry of feelings. “Love is love,” we are told, but that concept can be used to justify pedophilia and any other sexual depravity. What they really mean is, “Lust is love,” which is another lie.
This idolatrous thinking has also been used to punish citizens who won’t go along. Kim Davis was the clerk of Rowan County, KY. After the Obergefell decision was handed down, she faced a moral and spiritual dilemma. She decided as a matter of conscience that she would not issue marriage licenses for same sex couples because it violated her religious convictions.
Instead of honoring Kim’s religious liberty under the First Amendment, a federal judge sent her to jail for six days. The same judge who threw her in prison, later issued a $360,000 judgment against her when two homosexuals sued her.
STAND’s proposed Constitutional Amendment on Marriage will put an end to sanctioned persecution of Christians and others who hold traditional values.
Constitutional Amendment on Marriage
Section 1. “Under the laws and Constitution of the United States and its various municipal and state governments, Marriage shall be defined as a union between one man and one woman, whether performed by a civil magistrate or a religious representative.
Section 2. Any Supreme Court decisions purporting to “legalize” same sex unions as marriages are hereby rendered null and void. All such unions entered into under the authority of any such decisions, rulings or holdings shall be deemed private contractual relations under the laws of the United States.
Section 3. Unions entered into in any foreign country between two persons of the same sex or gender deemed to be marriages under the laws of the country where such union is entered into shall not be recognized as marriage under the laws of the United States.
Section 4. The concepts of sexual orientation and gender identity shall not be considered protected classes under the Constitution of the United States nor be included in the meaning of sex or gender for legal or constitutional purposes.
This amendment would not outlaw homosexual relationships or put anyone in jail for private sexual behavior between consenting adults. It would however put an end to litigation against companies and individuals who disagree with same sex marriage or homosexuality and choose not to be associated with it in any way. It would also stop same-sex couples from suing agencies which do not allow homosexual adoption of children.
What this Amendment does is remove the legal right to force others to explicitly or implicitly approve of sexual immorality. Freedom of conscience is the soul of liberty.
