All of this must end, and President Trump cannot do it alone.
Of all the props and loopholes which act as magnets to crash through our border, the most pernicious is birthright citizenship also known as “anchor babies” because these children do not become mere residents but automatic citizens, even though they have illegal alien parents.
Any illegal alien gang member, child trafficker, serial killer, Chinese national, or Islamic terrorist who gets a pregnant wife, girlfriend, or sex slave into our country, has a ticket to stay if the woman has her baby here. The child “anchors” the parents because they become guardians of an American citizen.
Terrorist organizations and adversary nations – especially Communist China – are using this scam to undermine the U.S. from within, which makes it a matter of national security. China has a whole tourist system dedicated to exploiting this loophole as part of their long term plan to undermine and supplant American dominance.
President Trump has already tried to address this issue with an Executive Order. A federal district court judge in far left Seattle has struck down the presidential order as “blatantly unconstitutional.” That Court reveals its bias. Birthright citizenship as practiced in our country is highly questionable as a constitutional matter and obviously dangerous as a national security matter.
An Executive Order may not solve it, but it gets the issue on the table and begins a debate that we must have. Four hundred thousand babies born to non-citizens were given citizenship in our country in 2024. Most of them were born to parents illegally residing in America.
The Fourteenth Amendment was passed in 1868 to give citizenship to former African slaves some of whose ancestors arrived here 250 years earlier. Unfortunately, it has been misinterpreted to give citizenship to anyone born on American soil. That was never the intent and it is time to correct it once and for all.
Section One of the 14th Amendment says:
“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”
The only way to bring an end to the debate over its misinterpreted language is to pass a Constitutional Amendment which clarifies the matter. Here is our proposal:
“Any biological child of an American citizen born anywhere in the world, shall be an American citizen. No person born in any state, territory, or the District of Columbia of the United States of America shall be an American citizen by birth unless at least one biological parent of such child is an American citizen.”
We are a nation of laws, not the selfish whims of power-hungry politicians.
The American people overwhelmingly want this, and will support it.
