On Friday, May 16th at 7 p.m. we will hold our annual STAND Awards Dinner at Cornerstone Chapel, 650 Battlefield Parkway SE, in Leesburg, Virginia and celebrate nearly sixteen years as an organization. I founded STAND as an antidote to the degeneration of American culture which began in the 1960’s. However, President Barack Obama made matters worse by promoting racial division, homosexuality, killing unborn babies, and so called “same sex marriage.”
Judeo-Christian values, not moral depravity, made America the greatest nation in history. Psalm 33:12 says, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD…” The Declaration of Independence makes clear that we were founded to be such a nation, and this has been the key to American success.
Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” It does not say “the perfect” must be in authority, but “the righteous” – those who seek to uphold the standards set by God rather than those who set their own standards to satisfy their own lusts.
The great divide in our country is not about race, gender, or poverty; it is about whether truth will answer the fundamental issues of our time.
- Is marriage between one man and one woman, or is it whatever human opinion declares it to be?
- Is unborn human life sacred, or is an unborn child nothing more than trash to be discarded by those who refuse to take responsibility?
- Are there only two genders – male and female – as Jesus said in Matthew 19:4, or are there as many genders as there are days in a year?
- Is it physiologically, biologically, and genetically impossible to change one’s gender, or is it as simple as claiming a different “gender-identity”?
- Are freedom of speech and religion God-given rights, or delegated privileges parsed out by those in power?
We believe that just as God raised up heroes at our founding to uphold “self-evident” truths, He is raising up heroes today to do the same. At our STAND Awards Dinner, we will give “The George Washington Award for Taking a Stand” to some of today’s heroes.
